MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Rebecca Soni of the United States has broken the short-course world record in the women’s 100-meter breaststroke.
Soni clocked 1 minute, 02.70 seconds at the Duel in the Pool meet on Saturday, beating the mark of 1:03.00 set by Leisel Jones of Australia last month in Berlin.
Soni also set a new world mark in 200 breaststroke on Friday at the meet pitting the American team against the European all-stars at the Manchester Aquatics Centre in northern England.
