Stress has many sources, some physical, some emotional, some environmental. Unhappiness can also lead to stress. Being able to relax under stress may require some deliberate techniques. Stress is one of the factors that affects your health, both physically and mentally. Many of you may have heard the idioms; ‘mind is the boss, body is the servant’ or “good mood, happy mind.’ Too much stress is not good for our bodies so to prevent harm from stress here are some easy relaxation techniques: Remember all those good things that ease your mind. Write them down and then you can remember them when you are feeling down.
Don’t pick a fight, especially with those in your family. Chances are the issue is not so important and can be let go. It also doesn’t hurt to just walk away from time to time. Try to make some humour when you are feeling angry. Those with a sense of humour are easier to be with, including you. A little bit of humour is much better than making a big deal out of everything. Pets and music are two good ways to reduce stress. Having a pet can give more meaning to your life as they are your friend and they love you. Listening to the songs you like can make you feel calmer just like the concept of music therapy. Exercise is one of the most important techniques. Exercising gives us a chance to let out negative emotions such as anger or sadness.
Endorphin, a happy substance, is produced while we exercise. Exercising also makes you get better sleep, feel fresher throughout the day and be healthier! Talk it out; whatever you have on your mind just let it all out! However, it would be wise for you to choose a person who you trust and is tolerant. Talking is also a good way for you to think out loud and to reconsider your chosen path or direction in life. Getting enough sleep will definitely make you feel fresher; it’s like re-charging your body battery. Change your surroundings. This also includes traveling, just to change the atmosphere around you.
Humans are just like machines. We also need to rest for a while before we get back to work again. Going to new places, meeting new people will help. If there is something making you feel unhappy or too stressed, try going away on a trip for a while, then you will have enough strength and feel fresh enough to fight/solve anything standing in front of you. Last but not least is food therapy! Food can help you relax and food such as eggs, soybean, meat, grains and others contain vitamin b6, vitamin b3 and calcium. This includes offal, beans, vegetables, fish, yeast, garlic and day lily. Courtesy of HealthLab, Hua Hin
