“Putting the Fun Back into Fitness Training” We were recently invited by George Grecia the Director of Sports Development at True Arena the world class fitness centre in Hua Hin to witness first hand a Les Mills RPM indoor cycle training session in full flow.
The last time I did indoor cycle training was over twenty years ago. You hopped on a bike, set your fitness programme and off you went all by your lonesome so to speak.I found it the most boring and soul destroying form of training possibly imaginable. Having been invited by George Grecia the Director of Sports Development at True Arena’s world class fitness centre in Hua Hin to witness first hand a Les Mills RPM indoor cycle training session in full flow I was keen to find out what makes this RPM training so different and special Les Mills is a highly respected worldwide motivational indoor fitness training company founded by Les Mills a New Zealand Olympic athlete who opened his first gym in Auckland back in 1968.
Today Les Mills TM licenses its 18 fitness programs to 15,500 clubs across 80 countries. Each of its fitness programs mixes great music and cutting-edge science to help people fall in love with fitness. One of the most popular Les Mills training programs is RPM indoor cycling. True Arena are the only fitness centre in Prachuap Khiri Khan province licensed by Les Mills to provide RPM training which is expertly delivered by its personal motivational trainer Renu Arnesen. Renu has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport’s Science, and she is the only certified RPM trainer in True Arena Hua Hin.
So what is RPM and what are its benefits? RPM is an indoor group cycling motivational workout. You ride to the rhythm of powerful music, take on the terrain with your inspiring team coach Renu who leads the pack through simulated hills, flats, mountain peaks, time trials, and interval training. You control your own resistance levels and speed so you can build up your fitness level over time. Each RPM session lasts for 50 minutes and it is recommended for maximum fitness benefits to have 2-3 sessions per week. RPM increases one’s cardiovascular fitness, burns fat, tones and shapes the legs, and butt, increasing strength and muscular endurance without building bulk. RPM burns up to 600 calories in each training session. Watching Renu taking the cycling pack through their RPM paces accompanied by hard hitting music, everyone was having so much fun and motivation was in the air. What a great way to get and keep fit. By rhe way, for the non-revheads, RPM means Revolutions Per Minute! True Arena Hua Hin 52/52 Petchkasem Road Hua Hin.
