The Hua Hin Retro 2012 will be held from 28 April to 8 May 2012 at the Queen Sirikit’s Memrorial Park, said Mr. Sarawuth Jiraphithaksakul, the acting District Chief of Hua Hin.
An annual event of Hua Hin and Prachuap Khirikhan which is already included in this year’s official tourism calendar of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Hua Hin Retro 2012 will bring visitors back in time through various festive activities that relate and reflect historical background of the city which originally was a small fishing village until a railway to the south of Thailand was built and Thai elites subsequently paid a visit for holiday.
Apart from honoring the royal wedding anniversary of Their Majesties, the Hua Hin Retro 2012 aims to promote local culture and tradition of Hua Hin and tourism of the city.
Highlight activities include a tourism promotion exhibit, a photo display that tells the city’s history, a performance to celebrate Their Majesties’ wedding anniversary, a beauty pageant, a retro ballroom dance, a light and sound show, selling of One-Tambon- One-Product (OTOP) goods and a stage performance of leading Thai artists. Proceeds from the event will be used to support the city’s administration and its people.
“The main reason why visitors from all over the world like to come to Hua Hin is because of top-notch accommodations, serene and relaxing atmosphere, high-quality but lowpriced seafood and generous local people in particular,” said Mr. Sarawuth. “These are key factors that attract many visitors to keep coming back here over again.” Further information of the event can be obtained directly at the Hua Hin District Office at tel. 032 516 256.
