Cancelling Credit Card Purchases

Credit Card Business is a Controlled Business with consumer protection available when goods or services are purchased using a credit card.

By definition the contract made with a credit card does not change the consumer’s right to cancel the purchase of goods or services within 45 days from the date of purchase of goods and services, or within 30 days from the due date of delivery of goods or services. If you have already been charged, the money will be returned to the consumer within 30 days from the date the consumer informs the company concerned in domestic cases. When purchasing goods or services from overseas the payment must be returned to the consumer within 60 days of the consumer’s notice. To terminate the contract, this must be in written form to be effective.

The content termination must be due to the fault of the provider of the goods or services, or does not provide the services required under the contract. When the consumer sends a letter to terminate the contract, they should make two copies, keeping one for themselves as evidence and another to send to the credit card company. The letter to terminate the contract must be sent within 30 days from the date of the contract and should be sent as registered mail at a post office as proof of the notice. If the contract is terminated and the company does not refund the payment, the matter may then be brought to court.
