The government is to set up a One-StopService Center to process public requests for official permits, in a bid to provide greater convenience and cut down chances of corruption. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said in his weekly television program “Return Happiness to the People” that his government is to shorten the duration of official services to issue various permits. The draft Bill on the Establishment of a Center to Facilitate Issuance of Official Permits authorises all ministers to set up a one-stop-service center as a coordinator between the government sector and the people to ensure the latter’s requests would be processed immediately.
The center will process all types of requests that are not related to the decisions of the parliament, the cabinet or the court of justice. It will not proceed on any application asking to use natural resources. The officers who have received the requests will be authorized to check the transparency of the documents and must fulfill their purposes within seven days. Gen Prayut also mentioned in the TV program that the government has amended regulations to facilitate foreign investments. It has also set up a legal consultancy clinic for people with no nationalities and expand the registration of illegal workers to cover the Vietnamese.
