This is the second edition of a project to provide our readers with some insights into how Thai school ildren see their world.  In cooperation with the Hua Hin Vitthayalai School (Salesian) Principal, English Language Teachers and Students, Hua Hin Today has organised a competition for the students to write a small essay in English.

The topic of the essay is chosen by the teachers.  The student selected by the teachers as the writer of the best essay will then have it published in Hua Hin Todayand be presented with a framed copy of the article (including their essay).  Not proof read or in any way or changed; just the students own words.  Perhaps imperfect English, but importantly how the boys and girls express themselves about the topic; real contemporary Thai social culture.

We hope that the student concerned will proudly take this award home to show his or her family and have an even greater incentive to improve their English and that this will become a regular addition to Hua Hin Today.

This month the second winner is a young lady, 7 year old Pitiprapa Tanawattanankul (Pakboong).

The topic of the essay was about Mother’s Day and titled ‘My Mom’.  Well done Pakboong your framed award is on the way!

My Parents, My heroes

(transcribed just in case the scanned original is not clear)

‘My mother’s name is Wan.  She is 47 years old.  My mom works and plays with me.  She irons the clothes, washed the dishes and helps me with my homework.  She works with my dad for the family.  She sweeps, cleans and makes food for everyone in the family.

On Mother’s Day, I want to give my mom a hug and say ‘I love you mom!’’
