The Malaysian king, accompanied by his wife, was granted an audience with the King and Queen of Thailand at Klai Kangwon Palace, on Monday 2nd September, the Thai Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The royal couple flew in directly from Malaysia before proceeding to the palace. Their visit is part of a three day State visit to Thailand.
Thailand bestowed the highest honours on visiting Malaysian King Tuanku Abdul Halim a Mu’adzam Shah and Malaysian Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah during their visit to Hua Hin.
The Crown Prince of Thailand, Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, presented ‘The Knight of the Most Illustrious Order of the Royal House of Chakri (Thailand)’ to Tuanku Abdul Halim and the Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Illustrious Order of the Chula Chom Klao (Thailand) to Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
After Indonesia and Brunei, Thailand is the third Asean country to be visited by the Malaysian king, following his installation as the king of Malaysia for the second time in April last year.
His visit is aimed at strengthening existing relations and cooperation between Malaysia and Thailand.
