With the arrival of their Royal Majesties at the Klai Kangwon Palace on 1st August this year security arrangements for marine areas has been ‘beefed up’.
Tourists, local fishermen and water sportspeople have both prohibited and restricted in some areas for conducting beach activities and fishing. The prohibited area on the beach, starting from the Royal Residence itself, covers a semi circled area of 3,000 yards. This area can be easily observed on the beach from the Anantara Hua Hin southwards to Centara Grand Beach Resort. It is marked by a long line of safeguarding vessels to the east.
The area permissible for sailing and fishing is located 2,000 yards further from the 3,000 yard prohibited area. It is divided into two zones. The first one starts from Anantara Hua Hin northwards to the Hua Hin Airport; the second starts from Centara Grand Beach Resort southwards to Marrakesh Resort and Spa.
There is one more area where sailing, not fishing is allowed. It is located from the Imperial Hotel to the Hua Hin fishing pier in the south and covers 2,000 yards in the eastern side starting from the point where the royal navy is anchored.
Areas where ships and boats are allowed to anchor include the beach in front of the local fishermen’s village. Fishing is strictly prohibited in this area and boats should not be anchored beyond the three yellow buoys there.
Local people and tourists in Hua Hin are asked to observe these rules which may be amended later by concerned authorities. For most these measures will be of little inconvenience as similar restrictions have been in place over a long period of time.
