Hua Hin, June 2013 – Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa has achieved the Bronze Award of the first Italian Wine Sommelier Competition inThailand, organized by Italian Wine Lovers Society with support of Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce.
There were 26 candidates from recognized hotels, resorts and restaurants participating in two days of written and practical exam. Elite sommeliers have to prove technical knowledge test regarding grapes and wine, blind tasting skills, and food and wine pairings.
After two days of competition Thawath Sarakong, Senior Restaurant Manager (first from the left), a representative of Sheraton Hua Hin Resort & Spa was awarded the third place winner of Italian Wine Sommelier Competition on 9th of June, 2013, while having the highest score of technical knowledge test.
“A good sommelier not only has to have good knowledge of wine, but he also needs to be able to put customers at ease and know what to do to let them enjoy the food,” explained Thawath Sarakong, the Bronze Award Winner of the Italian Wine Sommelier Competition. “HHHe has to know what his clients want and how to make them remember their experience at the restaurant”.
