The Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Office, in collaboration to the Hua Hin District Office and Wat Huay Mongkol Buddhist Temple, is going to organize a festive event to celebrate the 85th birthday of His Majesty the King. The event, entitled “Huay Mongkol: our Father’s Road”, will take place between 2 and 10 December 2012 at Wat Huay Mongkol Buddhist Monastery in Hua Hin.
Covering over 1.5 kilometers within the temple’s compound, it features an exhibit to honor the King, a stage performance on Thai art and culture, a local products caravan and a display and selling of One Tambon One Product (OTOP) goods made in Prachuap Khirikhan.
The highlight of this event is a walk and run marathon on 2 December at 5.30 a.m. on Huay Mongkol Road where the King’s first royal initiative project was introduced. On 5 December which is the King’s birthday, a Buddhist ceremony of alms offering to 985 Buddhist monks will take place at 6 a.m. According to the Prachuap Khirikhan Governor Mr. Weera Sriwattanatrakul, 2012 is the year when Thai people celebrate the 85th birthday anniversary of King Bhumibhol.
At the same time, it coincides with the emergence of His Majesty’s first royal project in the province back in 1952 on Huay Mongkol Road. Despite 60 years, the royal project still brings good quality of living and happiness to local people in this area while promoting development to the province constantly. Both local people and tourists are welcome to join the event. For more information, please contact tel. 032 516 256 and 081 664 4789.
