The Hua Hin Municipality is launching a project to install CCTVs at a total of 160 points along Phetchakasem Road between Hua Hin Airport to Khao Tao. This 40 million THB budget project aims to boost the safety of Thai and foreign tourists to support the effort of Hua Hin Tourist Police Officers.
The Hua Hin Mayor Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul said at a meeting discussing traffic problem solutions in Hua Hin that this project was initiated as a proposed policy of Hua Hin Palang Mai Group. The CCTVs will be installed from the Hua Hin Airport in Boh Fai to the centre of the city, Nong Kae and Khao Tao Village. It is divided into two phases; each with a budget of 20 million THB.
The budget for this project is allocated by the Thai government and the office of the Hua Hin Tourist Police. Â With all the CCTVs installed municipal staff, tourist police and Hua Hin police will be able to solve traffic problems more efficiently and safeguard Thai and foreign people from crime at any time of the day
Mr. Nopporn added that to help solve traffic problem during festive seasons in Hua Hin, some of the roads along the railway will be used. For example to travel to Nong Kae-Hua Na using a one-way 102 route that leads to Soi Lapa and then crosses the railway towards the Tab-Tai and the bypass.
Bangkokians travelling South or back to Bangkok, can take the Ton Sak Road, passing the Kasetsart Animal Hospital, Ban Hua Don and Takiab. The bypass route at Hua Na is also a good option.
In the centre of Hua Hin where traffic is a serious problem, a new one-way road is suggested from Sra Song to Damnern Kasem and Chom Sin Roads, connecting the railway road with Phetchakasem Road, said Mr. Nopporn.
By the end of this year, a committee to manage traffic problem in Hua Hin will be established to work with municipal staff and other concerned organisations. Once the new systems are in placed a public announcement will be made.
“I believe that new one way route systems will help solve traffic problem in Hua Hin to some extent,” concluded the Hua Hin Mayor.
