SKÅL INTERNATIONAL Hua Hin & Cha Am has been re-launched with special events for Members and their guests at the Putahracsa Resort and Banyan Golf Course
The club relaunch was the vision of General Manager, Richard Mehr, of the Putahracsa Resort, who will be acting President of the Club, together with Stacey Walton, General Manager of Banyan Golf Club who will be acting Vice President.
“It has been 11 years since Skål International Hua Hin & Cha Am was inaugurated and it has been long overdue for the professionals of hotels, golf and the tourism industry in this Royal historic resort to unite as one group, to share a common goal of creating a fresh club with a new beginning and an exciting future of doing business amongst friends and to ultimately promote the destination of Hua Hin and Cha Am worldwide with one voice”; Richard said. “SKÅL INTL today has over 15,000 members in 358 Clubs in 83 countries and I see the value and potential that this network can bring to our members”, he said.
A further gathering of local Members is planned this month with planning for an expansion of the Club to follow in the New Year Skål is a professional organisation of tourism leaders around the world, promoting global tourism and friendship. It is the only international group uniting all branches of the travel and tourism industry. Its members, the industry’s managers and executives, meet at local, national, regional and international levels to do business among friends.
Mehr acknowledged and thanked the President of Skål Thailand, Wolfgang Grimm, and members of the now six Skål clubs in Thailand: Phuket, Krabi, Samui, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin and Bangkok. He thanked the club representatives present for their support in the relaunch of the club, together with the 18 founding members from Hua Hin and Cha Am. These members include the general managers of the Hyatt, Marriott, Intercontinental, Avani, Anantara, G Resort and Marrakesh.
According to Walton, “I was a founding member of Skål International Hua Hin & Cha Am back in 2007 and it was unfortunate that the group dissolved. I share the same vision as Richard that there has been a need for an international association where like-minded professionals in hotels, golf courses, travel and tourism can gather and exchange information, share ideas and keep up to date on events and activities in Hua Hin and Cha Am in a sociable environment.”
