Phetchaburi Province is gearing up to welcome a convoy of world-renowned celebrities and their supercars as part of the Gumball 3000 event, scheduled to pass through the region on September 18, 2024. Local authorities are preparing to ensure the smooth passage and safety of the rally participants throughout their journey in Phetchaburi.
On August 14, 2024, a preparatory meeting was held via Zoom, chaired by Mr. Saranroj Sutatsuto, Deputy Director of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. The meeting included Mr. Lertchai Sakonsawapak, Deputy Governor of Phetchaburi Province, Ms. Benwan Meephueak, Head of the Phetchaburi Provincial Office, and various department heads and officials. The discussions focused on logistics and safety measures to accommodate the influx of visitors and high-performance vehicles.
The Gumball 3000 rally will feature 250 participants and 130 supercars, making its way through five countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. In Thailand, the convoy will travel through 15 provinces, including Sa Kaeo, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Krabi, Phang Nga, Trang, and Satun, between September 17–20, 2024. Further details of the race route are expected to be released in due course.
The event, known for attracting high-profile figures, aims to support charitable activities in each country along its route. In Phetchaburi, local authorities are taking steps to manage traffic flow and enhance the province’s appearance to create a positive impression of both Phetchaburi and Thailand.
The rally will conclude in Singapore, where participants will attend the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 race.
