Hua Hin City Municipality has held an urgent meeting in a bid to speed up the delayed construction of Soi 94, a key road project that has caused months of disruption for local residents and businesses.

On 26 June, Mr. Jirawat Phramanee, Municipal Clerk of Hua Hin City and Chairman of the Procurement Acceptance Committee, chaired the meeting at the municipality’s Chomsin Room. Attendees included municipal officials, project engineers and representatives from the construction contractor.

The meeting was called to address ongoing delays in the project, which involves resurfacing a 500-metre stretch of Soi 94 with reinforced concrete and installing an upgraded drainage system.

The project, which began on 22 July 2024 was initially due for completion in February 2025 but was halted after underground utility issues and soil subsidence required a full revision of the construction plans.

Although revised plans have since been finalised, the project has remained on hold pending the contractor’s signature on an annex to the original contract. During the meeting, the contractor’s representative raised further concerns that have delayed the signing process. The municipality has requested the contractor finalise the document as a matter of urgency so that construction can resume in line with municipal standards.

Officials now expect the roadworks to be completed within three months, provided there are no further setbacks. Once construction resumes and machinery is in place, the municipality has asked residents to avoid the affected section of Soi 94 to help facilitate the work.

In the meantime, city officials have acknowledged the inconvenience caused and offered apologies to those impacted by the ongoing disruptions.

Lane closures and unclear detours have led to traffic congestion, particularly near the railway line.

The municipality has pledged to improve signage and communication with the public as the project moves forward.
